We respond to disaster and commit to recovery for weeks, months, even years. Whenever, wherever people are in crisis, we work with you, our donors and partners, to deliver the help they need.

    Just hours into the crisis...

...when lives hang in the balance, our emergency response team sets in motion a disaster relief operation uniquely suited for the crisis and conditions on the ground.

Guided by experience and expertise, we are ready to act: Emergency medical and humanitarian aid immediately moves through our strong global distribution network into the hands of first responders on the ground, saving lives.

    In the Aftermath...

... we are already laying out a road map to recovery—listening, questioning, and discovering gaps where we can focus our resources to fill critical needs.

And then we commit for the longer term. We stay in country rebuilding hospitals and clinics and addressing targeted health needs of survivors including communicable disease, chronic disease, mother & child health, mental health and nutrition – whatever work needs to be done to reconnect people to their life in a community and restore access to health care.

The best response is a good plan.

In the world's danger zones —where hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods or manmade crises are recurring and deadly threats — we pre-position emergency supplies, and we help train first responders. Through our disaster preparedness initiative, we help partners in several countries in these regions purchase and pre-position critical emergency supplies to help displaced families within 72 hours of a disaster.

In our primary distribution centers in North America, Europe and India, and in our clinic in El Salvador, we maintain Emergency Response Pharmacies stocked and ready for the next crisis. In Europe we assemble Emergency Medical Modules, designed to meet the needs of first responders to a disaster. We have strong working relationships with local and international NGO partners on the ground — ensuring a coordinated and targeted response.

The next disaster can occur anytime, anywhere. Our Annual Emergency Response Partners join our individual donors to help ensure that we have the resources necessary to prepare and respond.
